ClearView is a project funded by the European Commission under the eTen programme, to roll out a service which enables SMEs across Europe to access and interface with Single Windows, both regional and national. Single windows are technology solutions which offer a single point of access to multiple state services, including customs, tax, police, etc. Single Window initiatives are usually delivered by customs authorities. A single window offers the user (the company shipping goods across borders, or “trader”) a convenient and efficient way to interface with multiple regulatory authorities.
A single window enables a company involved in import/export to submit documentation just once, and have it delivered automatically to the relevant government and customs agencies, both in his own country and (ideally) in the country with which he is trading.
